Grantwriting
Presented by Bitsey Bidwell
Program Manager, Washington State Arts Commission
Thursday, July 17, 2008 • 10 am to 3:30 pm
Location - Pierce County Library System's Processing and Administrative Center 3005 112th St. E. It is located one block off SR 512 at Waller Road and has a comfortable conference room.
We are very pleased that Bitsy (Elizabeth) Bidwell, the program manager, (Community Arts and Accessibility) of the Washington State Arts Commission will be the presenter. It promises to be a most informative, enjoyable event.
On one of the 1,230 web sites that pop up when you Google Bitsy's name, a beneficiary of her expertise noted
"What we all love about her is her complete down-to-earthiness.....This is a real human being, not formal, not staid. And she knows this stuff inside out and upside down. I can't imagine anyone else doing the job as well as she does."
The workshop is in two parts:
Introduction to Fundraising, 10 am – 12:30: Special events, annual campaigns, foundation and corporation requests, and individual solicitations are covered in this introduction to the how and why of fundraising.
Break for Lunch. Bring your own brown-bag luncheon; refreshments (coffee, tea, bottled water and breakfast pastries) will be provided.
Grantwriting, 1:15 – 3:15 pm: An overview for new and experienced grantwriters of the process of developing a competitive grant proposal. The curriculum includes practical help on how to write the application and how to develop a budget, along with extensive resource materials.
In order to allow as many organizations as possible to benefit from the program, the maximum number of participants from each organization will initially be limited to three. An enrollment fee of $10 for the first person and $5 for each of the second and third enrollees is being charged to help defray the speaker's expenses and the refreshment costs. After July 7th, requests for additional spaces will be filled on a first come-first served basis from a wait list, at five dollars per person.
To enroll, please send your list of participants, their phone numbers, e-mail address, and your check for the appropriate amount - in time for it to arrive by July 7th - to the:
