Grantwriting & Fundraising

Introduction to Fundraising: Special events, annual campaigns, foundation and corporation requests, and individual solicitations were covered in this introduction to the how and why of fundraising.
Grantwriting: An overview for new and experienced grantwriters of the process of developing a competitive grant proposal. The curriculum included practical help on how to write the application and how to develop a budget, along with extensive resource materials.

Creating a Living History Program for Your Museum
Guest speaker: Mike McGuire, Senior Education Curator, Fort Nisqually Living History Museum; sponsored by Fort Nisqually Living History Museum, Humanities Washington, and Harbor History Museum.
Attendees learned the basics of creating a living history character, including: benefits to visitors and docents, where to start, how to research your historic person, creating the script, costumes and props.
