LAKEWOLD IS ‘LIVE’ WITH A NEW WEBSITE
Lakewold Gardens is proud to announce the completion of our new website. With funding provided by a 2009 City of LakewoodLodging Tax Advisory Committee grant, we completely revamped our site with a user-friendly format, crisp images, and clear site mapping. Designed with the visitor in mind, site guests can learn about the history of the gardens, keep current on Lakewold events and activities, and plan a trip to the gardens, including many activities offered throughout Lakewood.
The unveiling of our new site is just one of the many improvements Lakewold has made in order to reach out to members, friends, tourists and the community in an era of social networking. Last fall marked the beginning of an e-newsletter, Garden Greetings, to better inform and update our members and friends with news from the gardens. We are also in the process of branching out to other social sites such as Facebook, Flickr, and YouTube.
Please take a look at the new site by visiting www.lakewoldgardens.org . While at our site sign up for our mailing list, become a member, or learn something new about the gardens. Special thanks to Irene Russo of Lakewold and Adam Welch of Hemisphere Design for their year long efforts in creating a thorough and user-friendly site for the public.
Lakewold Gardens is a ten acre, non-profit public garden located on Gravelly Lake at 12317 Gravelly Lake Drive SW, Lakewood, WA 98499. We are open year-round for tours; April-September, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm – winter hours vary, please call ahead 253.584.4106 or visit www.lakewoldgardens.org.

Women’s Voices, Women’s Votes: Washington State Women’s Suffrage Centennial
An exciting new exhibit will travel statewide through June 2011
Women's Voices, Women's Votes: Washington State Women’s Suffrage Centennial
1910-2010 is not only the story of how Washington women gained the vote ten years before the nation’s Constitutional amendment. It also tells how Washington women’s votes have influenced state history, how women from various ethnic and economic groups have achieved voice in public life, and how women’s roles continue to evolve.
An exhibit needs powerful artifacts, original archival materials, photographs, and stories to make it as relevant and inclusive as possible. We request your help in searching institutional and individual collections statewide to locate prospective items representing women’s efforts through the full century. The artifacts themselves are very important to the exhibit; in addition, the stories behind these objects will bring history to life for the viewer. Consider specific women or women’s associations in your area. Are there specific objects that represent or symbolize their views and efforts?
Please email or send your ideas and stories for review at your earliest convenience. We will eventually need a clear photo of the artifact (preferably digital), its dimensions, and a brief synopsis of its story and relevance to the exhibit.
We greatly appreciate your assistance in creating a richly interactive and informative exhibit.
Sincerely,
Marsha Rooney Shanna Stevenson
