The Heritage League of Pierce County annual awards program recognizes achievement among those doing heritage work in Pierce County.
Guidelines and Nominations
Government agencies, tribes, non-profits, businesses, and individuals doing heritage work are eligible. Nomination is by submission of a one- or two-page letter, with only essential attachments (for example, pictures of a building or exhibit, a copy of a publication, or a curriculum). Letters of support are not required but may be submitted.
The nomination letter would make the case for the award, describing significance, public benefit, audience, and geographic scope. The number of awards each year will be limited by reserving them for recognizing the highest quality. Self-nomination and post humus awards are allowed. Membership in HLPC is not be required but is encouraged.
Possible award categories include the following:
Planning and related publications are not eligible for awards.
Timeline
Deadline for submission – to be announced for 2013
Notification of recipients of awards – mid-January
Presentation of awards at annual meeting at the Washington State History Museum
